On Top Gear the car has received considerable praise from all three presenters. While initially skeptical in 2004 that the Veyron would even be produced, Jeremy Clarkson later declared the Veyron "the greatest piece of engineering ever. No, I'm sorry, this is the greatest car ever made and the greatest car we will ever see in our lifetime." James May proclaimed that the Veyron is "our Concorde moment". To review the car, Clarkson drove from Alba, northern Italy to London whilst racing James May and Richard Hammond who were travelling in a Cessna 182 aeroplane.

A few episodes later, James May drove the Veyron at the VW test track and took it to its top speed of 407.16 km/h (253.00 mph). During the second episode of the 13th season, Richard Hammond raced the Veyron against the McLaren F1 driven by The Stig in a one mile drag race in Abu Dhabi, commenting on Bugatti's "amazing technical achievement" versus the "non gizmo" racing purity of the F1. While the F1 was quicker off the line and remained ahead until both cars were travelling at approximately 200 km/h, the Bugatti overtook its competitor from 200 to 300 km/h, and emerged the victor. Hammond has stated that he did not use the Veyron's launch control in order to make the race more interesting.

The Veyron also won the award for Car of the Decade in Top Gear's end of 2009 award show. Clarkson commented "It was a car that just rewrote the rule book really, an amazing piece of engineering, a genuine Concorde moment". When the standard version was tested, it did not reach the top of the lap time leader board, which was speculated as being due to the car's considerable weight disadvantage against the other cars towards the top. The SuperSport version, however, achieved the fastest ever time of 1:16.8, as well as being taken to a (verified) average top speed of 431.072 km/h (267.856 mph) by Raphanel on the programme, henceforth retaking its position as the fastest production car in the world.

High Performance

The car's safety systems have been designed to cope with its extraordinary performance, acceleration and speed. The single-piece carbon-fiber monocoque alone scores maximum points in crash tests, while airbags give the driver and passenger additional protection. The high-speed tires designed specially for the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 (for vmax. > 350 km/h), sizes 265-680 ZR500A (front) and 365-710 R540A (rear), incorporate a further innovative safety feature in the form of the PAX System fitted to the wheels and tires, ensuring safe handling even after sudden pressure loss. Every once in a while you come across something that is so luxuriously superior and elegantly sexy that you can’t keep you mind off of it. I’m referring to something that is so extravagantly beautiful and dynamically robust that it deserves all of the hype that surrounds it. I’m talking about a car that has been described as “the fastest most powerful and most expensive road car the world has ever seen”. In 1998, under CEO Ferdinand Piëch, Volkswagon AG acquired Bugatti and their designers were encouraged to restore the legacy and tradition that was created under it’s founder Ettore Bugatti. The project was headed by chief designer Hartmut Warkus along with exterior designer Jozef Kaban. In 2000 after years of tremendous efforts spent on concepts and revisions the utterly stunning Bugatti Veyron 16.4 was introduced to the world however due to executive changes in Volkswagon AG the Veyron underwent even more redesigns until finally making its way into the market in 2005.

The Bugatti Veyron, which was named after French race car driver Pierre Veyron, is a 2 seater 4 wheel drive carbon fiber bodied super coupe that comes equipped with a massive quad-turbocharged, 8 liter, 16-cylinder engine that has the mechanical muscle needed to produce 1,001 horsepower. The 7 speed transmission & AMD system controls the Veyron which has a 0-60 time of 2.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 253.8 mph. So if you’re an ordinary person who receives an ordinary yearly income then this car is simply out of your league and I would advice you to get a little “Veyron Amnesia”. Because the only way you are ever going to physically own this vehicle is if you build an innovative incredibly popular online multimedia social networking website that attracts Google who ends up buying your business for billions of dollars. Unless you create something of that magnitude I’m sorry to say this but you are NEVER GONNA GET THIS CAR.
